How to choose the right color & theme to match your home and the season
“Some people look for a beautiful place. Others make a place beautiful.”

With the summer heat at its peak, the brilliant ambiance of summer was too hot to adequately enjoy. To recreate the feeling of a summer evening, while in the comfort of air-conditioning, the colors of summer were brought inside with vibrant flowers, leafy greens and natural woods.
When planning the design of a home event, the first place to always start is with what you have. This can help you narrow down potential themes easily and keep you in your comfort zone. What is the aesthetic of your home? What are the colors of your walls or your furniture? Is your home traditional or mid-century? For example, a boho-rustic dinner party is difficult to pull off in a modern, minimalist home. Ultimately, your home is a reflection of you and your design taste, and there is no need to change that.
For the Midsummer Dinner, the flowers were selected to tie in the the colors of the artwork already present in the homeowners dining room, while portraying tying in the current season of summer. This was an easy way to keep a cohesive color scheme appropriate for the season, all while paying homage to the homeowners style.
Given the craftsmanship of the dining room table, there was no need to cover it up with a tablecloth- plus less to wash after the party! Light rattan placemats were used to give another nod to the summer season, and, frame the handmade white plates that were goldrimmed. Gold dinnerware was used to accent the plate rims, although silver would have worked just as well! Clear vases and candleholders were used to accentuate the flowers and keep the focus of color on the flowers. These flowers could certainly speak for themselves!
To add another fun pop of color, tinted blue glass water cups were used, again tying in the artwork of the room and the summer theme.
Adding little details, like take home party favors, add another level to the experience of your guests. It takes little time to put popcorn in a gift bag, but the thought behind it make your guests feel the effort you put into making this event such a great experience. Plus, who doesn’t want something sweet to munch on while on the way home from an epic party!
